“Stow it, Cas. You’re just fussy ‘cause you lost.” Dean tugged at the harness’ loops and buckles, backs of his fingers grazing over Castiel’s hips.

“The rules don’t make sense. Paper wouldn’t hold up to rock-”

“No one said they made sense. You’re all set. Sam’ll anchor you.”

Metal clinked against itself. Loose stone scattered, clacking over the cliff edge and plummeting into the cavern below. 

Castiel sent them both a withering look as he climbed over the edge.

“I’ll remind you that I’m the only linguist you have. Without me you’re all-”

“Yeah, yeah. We’re all boned.” Dean called back.

There was a moment of quiet before, “Well, without me, you wouldn’t be any longer.”
